Watch This Couple Try to Make a Quarantine Work Out Out of Viral Partner Exercises

U.S. Navy sailor Austen Alexander and his girlfriend Sarah Olson are still getting in their workouts during quarantine. To shake things up, they decided to do it together by trying out some viral couples’ exercises.

“We’re a little bit restricted with what we can do… we can’t go outside, we can’t be around people, but we’re still making it happen,” says Alexander.

For their first exercise, they attempt a wheelbarrow pushup. Olson does a squat as she holds Alexander’s legs. Then, he pumps out a rep.

“This takes a lot of core,” says Alexander.

Next, they attempt the ‘girlfriend situp’. Olson wraps her legs around Alexander’s neck for a hanging sit-up, complete with a kiss between each rep. Then he does the ‘boyfriend situp’, a variation on the floor.

“You put your legs around my head, and when she sits up, I lift my legs,” he says, with Olson pushing his legs down with each rep.

After that, they move on to a glute bridge shoulder press. Olson is on her knees and holds Alexander’s feet while he gets in a plank. Then, she uses his legs to press.

Next, they attempt a partner-assisted pushup, with Olson on Alexander’s back as he does a pushup.

“This is a good pump right here,” he says.

After that, they try partner-assisted flutter kicks, with Olson being held up by Alexander as she does flutter kicks… only to land on his face.

But they recover with the airplane, with Alexander holding up Olson in the air with his feet.

“This is a good one,” says Alexander.

Their next attempt is with the human goblet squat, with Olson wrapped around Alexander’s neck ash she’s being craddled to use as weight.

“When in doubt, squat it out,” says Alexander.

For the next move, Alexander says it can take the place of a leg press machine. Alexander is on the ground, while Olson stands in a plank, and Alexander presses her body.

After that, they attempt a partner’s pushup, with Alexander on the floor holding Olson who is faced opposite as she does a pushup down, and he chest presses using her legs.

Next, they do a move that mimics cheer leading. Alexander is on the floor on is back, and Olson stands on his palms as he presses her up.

“Superior strength, incredible balance,” says Alexander.

For their last move, Alexander gets on the floor again, while Olson holds a lateral plank while being pressed.

“You are sweaty and out of breath,” says Olson.

The workout clearly got the job done. Turns out, the ridiculous looking routines can actually work up a sweat. Just make sure that you and your swolemate have plenty of space and take things slow if you give these moves a try—no one needs an unnecessary trip to the emergency room right now.
