Recent study: women who exercise regularly, live longer

Sport and physical activity, in whatever Form, have many positive effects on the body – this is also true for women.

So far, however, there was little scientific data to this good influence of regular sports sessions and a Fitness go hand in hand on the female organism.

It has a positive influence on female health

The results of a current study to establish exactly at this point, and show why regular Training for the women’s health and even life expectancy is worth it.

The results are clear: Thus, women who exercise regularly have a significantly lower risk to die of heart disease, cancer, or other causes.

It suggests an inquiry, which was presented last week at the scientific Congress of the European society of cardiology (ESC).

How resilient the female heart?

Since women generally live longer than men, this specific research is required, the positive effects of sports on female heart health.

The present study investigated on the basis of an echocardiography, the load-carrying capacity as well as the function of the heart from a total of 4.714 adult women during exercise and their connection with the life.

During the echocardiography, the participants should run on a treadmill and slowly the intensity to the point of exhaustion to increase. During the Tests images of the work were taken up heart.

The Fitness was defined as the maximum load of ten metabolic equivalents (METs). This corresponds to a rapid rise of four storeys without interruption.

Women who achieved good traininsg results of ten METs or more, were then compared with the participants, which is less than ten METs achieved.

A significantly mortality rate was reduced by Sport

During the follow-up period of an average of 4.6 years, the cases came under the subjects to 345 cardiovascular death, 164 cancer deaths and a further 203 deaths due to other causes.

After the researchers had excluded other factors that could affect the life,, they came to the conclusion that the METs einhhergehen clearly with a lower risk for death.

The annual mortality rate due to cardiovascular disease was in women with a good physical performance is almost four times lower than in the case of persons with low values (0.6 percent to 2.2 percent).

Also on the cancer deaths, the physical Fitness took a massive impact: The risk to die of a Cancer, was in good Fitness is only half as high (0.4 percent versus 0.9 percent).

In General, the mortality rate was due to other causes, more than four times lower than in women with a poor exercise capacity (from 0.3 to 1.4 percent).

Women benefit at any age from Training

“A good training capacity predicted a lower risk of deaths due to cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other causes,” says Dr. Peteiro, in a communication to the study.

Although more women were among the study participants in middle or older age (80 percent of the subjects were between 50 and 75 years old), however, can benefit women of all ages of a good Fitness.

“The results were for women over 60 and under 60 years – even though the group of under 50 Year-olds was,” explains the scientist.

General Fitness and heart function improve

In contrast to General Fitness, the researchers measured the heart function during the test, were able to conclude only on the probability of a cardiovascular disease.

Subjects with a weak function of the pumping chambers of the heart had to die in the following years, an increased risk of a cardiovascular disease.

“If you look at both test results together, it is unlikely that a woman whose heart is working during exercise is normal, gets to be a cardiovascular disease”, explains the expert.

“If your General Fitness is low, however, there is still the risk to die of cancer or any other cause.”

Who wants to support his body, so just work on his stamina, but overall, the level of physical Fitness improve.
