Risk of injury in Yoga: 3 dangerous Asanas, of which Yoglehrer advise

Yoga is considered to be very healthy for the body and the mind. Each of the Asanas (poses) call for gently the muscles, strengthen the body and during a Flow can be switched off wonderfully with the head and relax.

Many people use the Flows to physical complaints, to counteract or prevent it. No wonder, then, that the practices of the Yoga teaching enjoy today, such a great popularity.

Who is not visited on a regular basis, a Yoga school, or equivalent courses, will find the necessary Inspiration for new poses and Flows on the Internet.

Increased risk of injury in case of difficult Asanas

Because in social media, many Yogis share diligently do their acrobatic movement sequences – the more impressive they look, the better.

However, this Trend also has a shadow side.

Ann Marie Johnston, a Yoga teacher and founder of Yoga-security platform ‘Yoga Therapeutics Pro’ to the Portal ‘9Honey’ that with the rising popularity of Yoga injuries are on the increase, in the context of sports.

“A Yoga teacher is there to help, and to guide you through the Flow. If he recommends, however, that you should overcome pain or unsettled, it’s time to find a new teacher.”

Not every Pose is for everybody suitable

For Johnston, there are a handful of popular and widely used Yoga poses, which she has removed from their teaching repertoire, even though they practiced it themselves at home.

“In my opinion, the risk this poses predominates in a group lesson, by far, their Benefits. That is why I don’t judge you,” explains the expert.

Especially beginners and untrained Yogis as well as people with physical illnesses should not engage in without the necessary preparation of the following three Asanas.

1. Hand or head stand to fall the risk

In both these poses it is enormously to the Balance of the body. In a crowded room this is reason enough not to teach.

“In addition, these intense poses are particularly bad for people with neck, back or shoulder injuries,” says Johnston.

“People with eye problems, ear infections, heartburn or indigestion, headache, high or low blood pressure, and osteoporosis, should also refrain from these positions.”

The same is true for people with heart disease or stroke patients.

“In my opinion, the are too many factors to draw the two Asanas for a group of people into consideration, which I know well.”

2. Shoulder stand and Plow pose risk for the cervical spine

“The shoulder stand followed by the plough posture is one of the most common sequences that I see in other classes that I visit. Both of these poses, however, a high risk for neck injuries,” warns the teacher.

As with the previously mentioned risks of injury, these poses should be avoided, unless the neck, back or shoulder injuries or you suffer from ears and eyes, heart or bone problems.

3. Wheel Pose – to-depth back-diffraction

The Radhaltung can be used for people with bone or back problems, very painfully. In particular, if the body is not fully warmed up.

“People also tend to be during this Pose on the head rest. In the process, they exert a considerable pressure on the neck while you move the bow into it,” says the expert.

“I don’t need to mention that this can be extremely dangerous.”

Anyone who suffers from Arthritis, a back injury, eye and heart problems, or shoulder and wrist injuries should refrain, according to Johnson of this attitude, definitely.

Inexperienced Yogis should acquire, also once other Asanas, before you venture to this Pose.
