Lust-filled lovers are bypassing the bedroom in ever-growing numbers.
In what’s shaping up to be a cold, wet season, sex toy retailer Lovehoney has released some truly shocking data right on cue to inject some warmth into your winter.
In the months of April and May, the online sex shop has seen searches for “shower sex” and “sex in the shower” skyrocket a mammoth 724 per cent.

Lovehoney puts the massive spike down to the release of Fifty Shades Darker earlier this year. If you haven’t seen the film, central characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele engage in a hot, steamy sex scene in – you guessed it – the shower.
And ever since the film’s release, more and more people have decided they too want a piece of the – albeit sometimes slippery – Fifty Shades pie. If you want to try it yourself, Lovehoney has sex aids designed specifically for the shower to prevent any calamitous falls.
For despite its hot and steamy image, shower sex doesn’t come without its risks: not only are condoms often not able to withstand hot water and shampoo, the constant flow of water may also wash away a lot of your partner’s natural lubrication.
Sex therapist Dr Debby Hebernick says if your attempts at shower sex go pear-shaped, you definitely aren’t alone.
“Don’t blame yourself if it doesn’t work for you – it doesn’t work for many people in the shower,” says Hebernick. “Instead, focus on ways to have more pleasurable sex on dry land.”
