Victoria Beckham, aka Posh spice, has discussed her moon water ritual which is said to help cleanse the body. Dr Amir appeared on Lorraine to discuss whether it has any health benefits.

Dr Amir explained: “Moon water is when you leave a glass of water out overnight in the moonlight and it charges it with positive energy.

“It’s good for the soul and cleanses the skin.

“I did it overnight, but I had to sieve it out as it got loads of flies and things in it.”

Dr Amir sampled his overnight water and was less than impressed.

“It’s not good for you,” he declared.

What is the moon water?

Moon water is exactly what you think it is: a glass, bottle, jug, bucket or water contained in any way that has been left out under the light of the full moon.

People say the water is “charged” under the moonlight in the same way the moon affects the ocean’s tides.

Moon water is often compared to “holy water” for those who worship the moon, because it is considered sacred and powerful.

Although moon water might not be as effective to one’s health as many claim it to be, ensuring you are drinking enough regular water is vital.

It’s commonly recommended that a person should drink eight glasses of 237ml of water per day.

Drinking water can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, result in mood change, cause your body to overheat, and lead to constipation and kidney stones.

 

Health benefits of normal drinking water include:

  • Carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells.
  • Flushing bacteria from your bladder.
  • Aiding digestion.
  • Preventing constipation.
  • Normalising blood pressure.
  • Stabilizing the heartbeat.
  • Cushioning joints.
  • Protecting organs and tissues.

Filtered water Vs unfiltered water

While drinking tap water is safe, we all know it tastes pretty bad due to the chemicals used to treat it.

In most Western countries, public drinking water is purified to make water safe for human consumption.
