In the leadup to the birth of her son, Chrissy Teigen has shared her fears that she will struggle with postpartum depression again.
Speaking at the Create & Cultivate Conference with friend and celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, Teigen opened up about first experiencing postpartum depression with her daughter Luna.
“I didn’t know I had it,” Teigen explained, E News reports.
“I knew that I had an incredible life, and an incredible husband, and family, and all the resources necessary, and I knew that I was personally unhappy, but I didn’t think anything was wrong with it because I just assumed that that’s the way it was. You have a kid, you’re sad, you lose those endorphins, and that’s the way it is.”
The model and TV host, who is expecting her second child in June with husband John Legend, said she fears the condition will return.
“Do I worry about it with this little boy? I do,” she explained.
“But I also know that I feel like when it does happen, if it does, I’m so ready for it. I have the perfect people around me for it. That’s why I really stand for a good core group of people around you.”
Teigen also shared he experiences with anxiety and postpartum depression in the January issue of marie claire.
“It couldn’t be any worse than it was, could it? Every step I take feels a little shaky,” she said.
“It’s such a weird feeling that you wouldn’t know unless you have really bad anxiety… You feel like everyone is looking at you.”
