Carrie Bickmore Shares All Too Real Struggle Of Caring For A Newborn

If we had to list all the things we love about Carrie Bickmore, her brutal honesty would be up there – especially when it comes to the trials and tribulations of parenting.

Just one month after giving birth to her third child (an adorable baby girl named Adelaide), The Project host has taken to Instagram to share just how tough life with a newborn can be at times.

Alongside a snap of herself breastfeeding next to her partner Chris Walker, Carrie admitted she’d been surviving on four hours of broken sleep nightly, had taken a trip back to hospital with mastitis and found herself Googling ‘what is reflux’ at 3am. Her other lowlights included “arguments,” the “conflicting advice” she’d been given, struggling with her “existing 3 year old,” “tears of exhaustion” and having to eat “meals with one hand.”

But despite these (totally normal) frustrations, the last four weeks has also left the doting mum “bursting with love and gratitude.”

The post was met with nothing but positivity from her 586k followers, including words of encouragement from television sports presenter Erin Molan, former Today presenter Sylvia Jeffreys, and celebrity trainer Tiffiny Hall.

“Sending you all the powers,” Tiff wrote. “Nothing is as hard as those first 12 weeks. Nothing! What I would give to sniff a baby’s head though! That smell amazing how it makes you survive.”

Aussie model Megan Gale (who gave birth to her second bub in October 2017) added: “Hang in there Mama Bear.. you’ve done this.. you’ve GOT this.”

“These first 12 weeks seem like an eternity but you KNOW when you look back it will seem like it all happened in a blink of an eye. Enjoy the teeny baby snuggles as much as you can through bleary eyes. [sic]”
