Watch This Bodybuilder Complete a 'Sprint Triathlon' Inside His House

British bodybuilder and YouTuber Matt Morsia—a.k.a., MattDoesFitness—set up the ultimate quarantine physical challenge for himself: Completing a full sprint triathlon within the confines of his house and backyard. He’s gone after some pretty wild challenges before—but even for him, this will be quite a stretch.

“I’m going to be doing a sprint triathlon, which is an abbreviated version,” he says. The YouTuber isn’t quite right—what he’s doing is an abbreviated version of a sprint triathlon. The standardized version of the event, which is still a tough challenge, requires participants to a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride (about 12.4 miles), and a 5K run (about 3.1 miles). Matt says he plans to swim 400 meters, bike 2 miles, and run 1 mile, all much shorter distances.

Still, he’s doing it indoors. The YouTuber constructed a “triathlon arena” in his house. The course starts in his kitchen, through his living room, and back to the kitchen.

“One lap on this track is going to be 32 meters,” he says. He plans to bike about 100 laps, and run 50 laps.

For the first event, the kiddie pool swim, he’s outfitted in goggles, a swim cap, and leggings.

“I know what you’re thinking, how are you going to track that?” he says. “I’m wearing a Fitbit that equates strokes to meters.”

He also creates a mechanism using a bungee chord and a belt that are connected to a fence that will keep him steady as he does his strokes. And with that, he’s underway.

“I’m so cold,” he says as he exits the pool. His final time was 10:10.

After that, he straps on his helmet for his indoor bike, a super tight squeeze that leaves him banging into walls and tight corners.

“My chest and shoulders are absolutely wrecked. I smashed my foot as well,” he says after he completes the 100 laps. “I’ve actually wrecked the house.”

But he did it, and had a time of 42:23.

For his final event, he slips on his shoes for the 50 lap run. He completes it in 12:47.

“12:47? That’s bad for a mile isn’t it, but it’s in my house,” he says.

Overall, his total time for all the events was 65:20.

“Pretty rubbish on this one,” he says. “But I did it in my house.”
