‘RHOBH’ Star Garcelle Beauvais, 54, Swears By Pilates Workouts To Strengthen Her Body

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais’ infectious laugh doubles as an abs workout, and she can throw shade like an Olympian to boot. But when it comes to sweating off-screen, The Real host, 54, takes a more laid-back approach.

Living in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic, Garcelle stayed active during quarantine by taking walks. But she didn’t put any pressure on her body—it was more an act of self-care than anything else. “Not everybody has the discipline to [exercise] on their own every day, and I can say I’m one of those people,” the Going To Bed with Garcelle podcast host tells Women’s Health while promoting her partnership with TENA, a female health and incontinence brand. “But now that things are opening up, I’m happy to get out and go work out.”

Her workout of choice? Pilates. Now that the The Jamie Foxx Show alum’s studio has reopened, she’s returned to the fitness routine that’s served her well for decades. “I’ve been doing [Pilates] since before I had my son Oliver, who’s 30,” Garcelle explains. “I love it because it strengthens my body, it leans my body, and I can see results fairly quickly.”

To fuel up for her workouts, the Coming To America actress has recently gotten into making morning smoothies. “I wasn’t really a smoothie kind of person, [but] I’m doing that now,” Garcelle says. “I’m adding more nuts into my diet, and I’m definitely eating fruits.” But she takes the same approach to eating as she does to exercising: “It’s just finding a balance. I’m not going to go crazy and say, ‘I’m only going to eat protein, I’m never going to have a slice of pizza.’ I can’t do that for me.”

Though one of Garcelle’s health goals is, admittedly, “to lose the quarantine pounds that I’ve gained,” she’s focused on “trying to figure it out slowly and in a healthy way.” Cheers to that!
