Sarah Hyland has been open about her health issues in the past, and National Selfie Day was no different. On Thursday, the Modern Family actor, 27, shared a picture of herself in what appears to be a hospital, wearing a telltale gown. “Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle and feelin cute. This time for #nationalselfieday I’ve decided to share my truth. As painful as it is,” she captioned a picture of herself. “So here is my face that was torn from work against my will. But I’m very grateful it was. Health should always come first,” she continued, with the hashtag, #stayhealthymyfriends.
In a separate photo, she posted a video with her dog that seems to indicate she was admitted to the hospital on Monday. “Can’t wait to come back to my precious angel princess. She’s perfect and knows exactly what I need at all times,” Hyland wrote. “This was taken this past Sunday. Day before hospitalization. She was literally telling me to get treatment."
Hyland has not revealed why she sought treatment or what her current condition is. However, in 2012, she underwent a kidney transplant after a lifelong battle with kidney dysplasia, and she has shared some of the struggles that have come with the subsequent medical care. She has talked openly about her experience with the disease, including hair loss caused by some of her medications, recently asking for recommendations that won't interfere with her treatment. Hyland has also shown followers how she combats the facial swelling caused by the prednisone with a rolling tool, and she's been known to responds to trolls who body-shame her and say she looks too thin. "My circumstances have put me in a place where I’m not in control of what my body looks like,” she wrote.
Let's hope she feels better soon.
