Alyssa Milano tested positive for COVID-19 yet, months later, the TV star is still dealing with the aftermath – pronounced hair loss. Here’s what happened.
Posting on Twitter, the actress – best known for Charmed – shared with her fans her disturbing encounter with COVID-19.
It was on Sunday August 9 when Milano wrote: “Thought I’d show you what #COVID19 does to your hair.”
Alongside the message was a video of her combing her wet locks with, what started off as, a clean detangler brush.
“Please take this seriously,” she pleaded, as more and more hair ended up on her tool.
“I just wanted to show you the amount of hair that is coming out of my head as a result of COVID,” Milano said in the video.
She proceeded to hold up a huge clump of hair in front of the camera, and added: “This is my hair loss from COVID-19. Wear a damn mask.”
COVID-19 is still a relatively new disease that we’re all still learning about.
Last week, Milano revealed in an Instagram post that she’s been suffering with the effects of COVID-19 for months.
Sharing a photo of her wearing breathing apparatus, Milano posted: “This was me on April 2nd after being sick for two weeks.”
The 47-year-old continued: “I had never been this kind of sick. Everything hurt. Loss of smell. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest.
“I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t keep food in me. I lost nine pounds in two weeks.”

In the same post, Milano revealed she had tested negative for the disease – twice – via finger-prick testing in March.
However, Milano attributes various symptoms to her positive COVID-19 antibody test she received from a blood draw.
She listed that she’s been suffering from “vertigo, stomach abnormalities, irregular periods, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, zero short-term memory, and general malaise”.
The mum-of-two reportedly donated her plasma in hopes of “saving a life”.
Echoing the words of the governments around the world, Milano finished off with common sense advice.
“Please wash your hands, and wear a mask and social distance,” she wrote on the social media platform.
The UK government advises people to wear a mask that covers “your nose and mouth in enclosed spaces”.
Moreover, social distancing is still in force, whereby everybody is recommended to stay at least one metre away from other people not in your household.
In the UK, there are different guidelines on how to stay safe outside the home.
However, the British government attested: “The risk of infection increases the closer you are to another person with the virus.”
Some people are asymptotic, meaning they don’t have any symptoms, which is why the two to one metre rule needs to be adhered to.
At present, talks of a second wave are circulating, but time can only tell how long we’ll be dealing with COVID-19.
