Why The Best Part Of Sex Comes 48 Hours Later

A successful sex sesh is pretty can be hard to beat, but science says the best part of the experience can be felt up to two days later.

No, we’re not talking about miracle-level, ongoing orgasms – we’re talking about the ‘afterglow’.

A study published in Psychological Science analysed the sexual activities (and level of satisfaction from said activities) of 200 newlywed couples and found that individuals were significantly happier up to two days post-sex.

“Our research shows that sexual satisfaction remains elevated 48 hours after sex. And people with a stronger sexual ‘afterglow’ – that is, people who report a higher level of sexual satisfaction 48 hours after sex – report higher levels of relationship satisfaction several months later,” says lead study author and psychological scientist Andrea Meltzer.

“This research is important because it joins other research suggesting that sex function to keep couples pair bonded,” Melzer adds.

So if you want to feel that glow you gotta get down on the reg.
