Watch Mike Tyson Show Off His Speedwork in a New Video

Retired boxing champion Mike Tyson has been teasing the possibility of a comeback for weeks on social media, and he just dropped another video to that effect — this time on the Chinese platform Weibo.

“Hey, I’m Mike Tyson. I’m on Weibo now, and letting you know there’s a possibility I might come back,” a shirtless Tyson says in the post. “But if I do, I’m going to fight with the spirit of Mao.” (A reference to his shoulder tattoo of the historic Chairman.) He then flexes his biceps, before launching into some aggressive speedwork.

Tyson stepped back into the public consciousness in March this year with a cameo appearance in Eminem’s ‘Godzilla’ video, in which he punches the rapper to the ground. Shortly after, he announced his intention to return to the ring in an Instagram Live interview with T.I., explaining that he’s in the process of getting jacked again so he can participate in charity matches — although he admitted that, at 53, he gets sore after hitting the mitts so hard.

“I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps,” he said. “Then I start my day with the boxing thing, I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition. I’m starting to put those combinations together… I’m in pain, I feel like three guys kicked the shit out of me.”

He has since shared a video where he cut loose on his trainer, and demonstrated that he’s not lost any of the speed and strength that made him the undisputed world heavyweight champion at the height of his career.

And Tyson isn’t the only retired champion planning their comeback. His old rival, Evander Holyfield, with whom he famously clashed in the “Bite Fight,” is also back in training, leading many to believe that a long-awaited rematch may finally be in the cards.
