It’s no secret that Shawn Mendes is the king of casual thirst traps on social media. Need some proof? Just take his latest shirtless Instagram post, for starters.
Showing off his hard-earned (but actually attainable) physique, the 22-year-old singer posed shirtless on an undisclosed set somewhere in Los Angeles. While the relatively simple, laid back shots may seem to be masquerading as candid photos, make no mistake—Mendes knows what he’s doing.
In the comments, fans couldn’t stop speculating exactly what exactly what the “Stitches” singer was working on, guessing everything from new music to a modeling gig. (Peep the visible Calvin Klein boxers in the second photo for possible evidence of another collaboration with the fashion brand.)
Mendes captioned the shirtless picture with the phrase, “Hairclip coffee bug,” referencing the clip in his locks and the cup of java in his hand. But let’s be real: That illustrated Frida Kahlo coffee mug just adds some extra aesthetic points.

Mendes, however, isn’t only focused on showing off his impressively lean physique. These days, he’s also focused on mental health more than ever. The singer and his long-time girlfriend Camila Cabello recently partnered with Calm, a “mental fitness app” which features stories, as well as guided meditation and soundscapes to encourage mindfulness and relaxation. Cabello also turned up in the comments section of yesterday’s post, complimenting Mendes’ choice of mug: “Frida cup on point,” she wrote.
In his Breathe Into It series with the app, the star opens up about his own mindfulness journey, and how meditation has helped him on stage and off. Now that’s a well-rounded approach to health—and in this case, it shows.
