The “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle is currently sold out on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop website.
The candle’s description says it has “a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent”.
It is scented with geranium, citrusy bergamot and cedar, with Damask rose and ambrette seed.
While this may sound innocent, a gynaecologist from New Zealand has warned the candle may be dangerous.
Dr Olivia Smart, of Oxford Women’s Health, told Stuff: “The ingredients for Gwynnie’s candle don’t smell like any vagina I have seen.
“A healthy vagina can smell like a lot of different things – but bergamot is not one of them.”

Dr Smart is worried what message this would send to people who are self-conscious about their nether region.
She said: “I think it’s sending the wrong message to women about what their vaginas might smell like, or could smell like.”
The doctor is concerned it could “could encourage the use of scented cleansers or, even worse, vaginal douching.”
Chemical products can irritate the area and harm the natural pH balance – which can lead to problems like bacterial vaginosis.
Symptoms of bacterial vaginosis is vaginal discharge which can have a strong fishy smell, particularly after sex.
However, half of women who have bacterial vaginosis don’t have symptoms, according to the NHS.

Meanwhile, douching, or washing or cleaning inside the area the area, could do the same.
She wants people to keep in mind vaginas are “self cleaning”, and have natural odours which can vary.
