Fareva Takes Over New Avon Manufacturing Facility

French manufacturing business Fareva is taking over New Avon’s manufacturing plant in Morton Grove, Ill., Avon has confirmed.”We intend to establish a long-term partnership with Fareva, a world-class manufacturing and cosmetics development company, to begin in late 2018,” said Debora Coffey, Avon spokeswoman. “As part of this partnership, Fareva will assume operations at the manufacturing facility in Morton Grove, Ill., which manufactures some of the cosmetics products in our Avon portfolio.”According to Coffey, Avon chose to partner with Fareva in part because of the group’s ability to produce innovative products quickly. “We will have special access to their latest breakthroughs, and we will work with Fareva to build a robust innovation pipeline for our Avon representatives and their customers,” she said.When Walgreens Boots Alliance sold its contract manufacturing business BCM to Fareva in 2017, speed was also one of the goals. Fareva did not immediately return requests for comment.For New Avon, the North American segment of the direct seller that has been backed by Cerberus Capital Management since 2016, the shift comes as the company continues to struggle in the U.S. market. Industry sources estimate that the business has continued to decline, standing at less than $500 million in sales for 2017. The unit was spun out of larger Avon, which owns a minority stake in New Avon.
