Avon Targets Fast Beauty with New Hires

As it works to move faster, Avon Products Inc. has appointed new marketing executives and a new regional general manager.
Anna Chokina, from L'Oréal Paris, is joining Avon as vice president of global brand marketing for skin care and personal care, and Elena Degtyareva, who has been with Avon as vice president of global marketing operations, has been promoted to vice president of global fashion and home. Marco Brandolini from Herbalife has been appointed general manager of Italy and the Mediterranean.
" each have deep category and beauty experience and will drive to restore growth in our categories," said Jonathan Myers, Avon chief operating officer in a statement. "These appointments are a testament to our commitment both to develop our winning category strategies and to drive operational excellence across all categories and regions as part of our turnaround plans. We are confident that these leaders will help Avon to better deliver fast-beauty to our representatives and consumers and drive growth in core areas."
Avon's push to be faster is in line what many businesses in beauty are working towards. Direct-to-consumer brands like Colourpop have been able to deliver on-trend products to consumers quickly, and more established players have been working to catch up and establish fast-beauty programs of their own.
Chokina will oversee skin and personal care, a $1.6 billion category for Avon. She starts Sept. 24. Chokina was most recently general manager of Russia for L'Oréal Paris. There, Chokina led the business to consecutive years of growth. Before L'Oréal, she was with Procter & Gamble, working in the feminine care unit, and PepsiCo, working in snacks.
Degtyareva's new role puts her in charge of a $1.4 billion category. Degtyareva has 20 years of beauty and fashion business experience, and has worked in global roles as well as in Eastern Europe.
Brandolini will start Sept. 1. He spent 13 years with Herbalife, most recently serving as vice president of sales and marketing, member services and technology.
"I believe in Avon's ability to drive value by best understanding the desires of its customers, empowering its representatives through its evolving digital technologies, and remaining focused on its commitment to delivering quality on-trend beauty products to customers," Brandolini said in a statement." I look forward to working alongside the rest of Avon's leadership team to build on these initiatives and drive growth throughout the Italian and Mediterranean region."
